Meeting: July 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

This is a beginner oriented month long class for folks who are new to clay or art making in general! This course is designed to introduce you to a range of ways of working with clay, as well as share the practical knowledge you’d need to continue working with clay on your own. We’ll play, learn, and process, together at the Belmar House classroom in Kingsessing (exact location will be shared after registration).

Outside of clay making you’ll experience the complete ceramics process from raw clay to fired piece, and learn about clay, glaze, and kiln chemistry. In addition to your beginner tool kit I’ll also provide DIY set up tips, online learning resources, and information on where to buy materials.

The course includes 25 lbs of clay & free recycled clay. (there will also be clay available for purchase); a beginner tool kit; communal supplies; a few glazes; 2 firings

Please Note:
Sadly this space is not wheelchair accessible, due to a steep stoop outside the front door. The space is home to a cat, if you are allergic it may not be a right fit for you.

Still wondering about the fit?

I’m hoping to connect with you especially if you are:
Looking to tend or transform your relationship with creative expression
Looking for a facilitated and relatively affordable entry to ceramics
Looking for an informal collaborative pedagogy // community directed class

This is a 4 week course meeting once a week for 3 hours per session.
While the session is open for 3 hours you do not need to stay the whole time. Check out the general class time flow below to learn more. Please be present with your body’s needs and your capacity, and let me know if there are any specific support measures you’ll need for the duration of the course.

I’ll be pouring my experience as a ceramicist, caretaker and afterschool arts educator into supporting your emotional, technical, and learning goals during this class. We will explore and connect through brief guided meditation, stretching, journaling, sketching and conversation.
